Recover a forgotten passphrase (25th word)
You have your 24 words but forgot the passphrase, the "25th word" that unlocks a hidden wallet? We are a Spain-based company specialised in recovering access to wallets like yours. The assessment is free and we only charge if we succeed.

The passphrase, often called the "25th word" (or the 13th word on a 12-word wallet), is an extra secret you can add on top of your recovery phrase. On Ledger, Trezor and other BIP39 wallets, it creates a separate hidden wallet: the same 24 words plus different passphrases lead to completely different sets of funds. If you forget it, the funds it protects become invisible even though you still have the seed. In many cases, there is a solution.
At Satoshi Spain we are a Spain-based company, headquartered in Barcelona, specialised in recovering access to crypto wallets.
What the passphrase is (and why it matters)
Unlike the recovery phrase, the passphrase is chosen by you and is never stored on the device. It is case-sensitive and every character counts. That is exactly what makes it powerful and what makes it easy to lose:
- You have the 24 words but can't remember the exact passphrase, or remember only part of it.
- You remember the idea of the passphrase (a sentence, a pattern, some words) but not the exact spelling, capitalisation or symbols.
- You're not sure whether you set one at all, because the account appears empty without it.
Nobody keeps a copy of your passphrase. Recovering access means reconstructing it from what you remember.
When it can be recovered (and when it can't)
We want to be honest, because this field is full of false promises:
- It can usually be recovered when you have the full recovery phrase and remember the structure of the passphrase — its length, some words, a pattern or the kind of characters you tend to use.
- It is much harder if you have no memory at all of the passphrase and it was long and random, or if you're also missing seed words. In that case we'll tell you clearly at the assessment.
We never guarantee a 100% recovery. What we do guarantee is an honest assessment and that, if we don't recover access, you pay nothing.
How we do it
- Free assessment. You tell us about your case: which device, that you have the 24 words, and everything you remember about the passphrase. We then tell you whether it's feasible.
- Contract and NDA. Before anything sensitive is shared, we sign a service agreement and a non-disclosure agreement under Spanish law. We only work with the legitimate owner of the wallet.
- Recovery. Starting from the patterns and fragments you remember, we generate and test passphrase candidates using on-demand GPU computing power and our own pattern research. We keep you updated throughout.
- Handover. Once we recover access, we help you regain control of your funds securely. The final step can even be done in person in Barcelona.
We only charge a success fee of 35% of the recovered amount, and only if we succeed. There is no upfront payment.
What we need from you
For the initial assessment we only need you to tell us:
- Which wallet it is (for example Ledger or Trezor) and that you have the full recovery phrase.
- Everything you remember about the passphrase: approximate length, words or patterns, whether you used capital letters, numbers or symbols.
- The address or an approximate balance of the hidden wallet, if you know it, so we can confirm a candidate.
Important: never send us your recovery phrase or passphrase by email. If your case is viable, we first sign the contract and the NDA, and then explain how to share the data securely.
Every day counts. Let’s look at your wallet.

Frequently asked questions
What is the "25th word" exactly?
It is an optional passphrase, defined by the BIP39 standard, that you add on top of your recovery phrase. It creates a different, hidden wallet. On a 24-word seed people call it the 25th word; on a 12-word seed, the 13th.
Do you need my recovery phrase to assess the case?
No. For the initial assessment we only need you to tell us about the case and what you remember about the passphrase. We don't ask for the seed or the passphrase until we've signed the contract and the NDA.
How much does it cost?
The assessment is free and there is no upfront payment. We only charge a success fee of 35% of the recovered funds, and only if we recover access. If we don't, you pay nothing.
I remember part of my passphrase — is that enough?
Often it helps a lot. If you remember the length, some words or the kind of characters you used, we can focus the search. The more you remember, the better the odds. We assess it for free.
Is it safe? What happens to my funds?
We work only with the legitimate owner of the wallet, under a contract and NDA. We never ask you to transfer your funds to us, and the final step can be done in person in Barcelona for your peace of mind.
