Recover an Electrum wallet password

Electrum has been one of the most widely used Bitcoin wallets for over a decade. Many people created an Electrum wallet years ago, set a password and, over time, stopped remembering it, or kept the seed and are now missing some words. If that's your situation, in many cases there is a solution.

At Satoshi Spain we are a Spain-based company, headquartered in Barcelona, specialised in recovering access to crypto wallets. Electrum is one of the cases we work on most.

How Electrum protects your wallet

Electrum keeps your bitcoin using a seed (the word phrase that generates your keys) and, usually, a password that encrypts the wallet file on your computer. There are two common situations:

• You forgot the password that opens the wallet, but you still have the file.
• You have the seed but it's incomplete or has a wrong word.

Electrum has no "forgot my password" button and nobody who can reset it. Recovering access means reconstructing the password or the seed from what you remember.

When it can be recovered (and when it can't)

We want to be honest, because this field is full of false promises:

• It can usually be recovered when you remember part of the password (length, words or numbers you used, how you built it) or when you're only missing one or two seed words.
• It is much harder when you remember nothing of the password or many seed words are missing. In that case we'll tell you clearly at the assessment.

We never guarantee a 100% recovery. What we do guarantee is an honest assessment and that, if we don't recover access, you pay nothing.

How we do it

1. Free assessment. You tell us about your case and what you remember. We then tell you whether it's feasible and what would be needed.
2. Contract and NDA. Before anything sensitive is shared, we sign a service agreement and a non-disclosure agreement under Spanish law. We only work with the legitimate owner of the wallet.
3. Recovery. Starting from what you remember, we generate and test candidates (password or seed) using on-demand GPU computing power and our own pattern research. We keep you updated throughout.
4. Handover. Once we recover access, we help you regain control of your funds securely. The final step can even be done in person in Barcelona.

We only charge a success fee of 35% of the recovered amount, and only if we succeed. There is no upfront payment.

What we need from you

For the initial assessment we only need you to tell us:

• That it's an Electrum wallet, and whether the problem is the password, the seed, or both.
• Everything you remember about the password, or which seed words you have and which are missing.
• How long you've had the wallet and, if you know, which Electrum version you created it with.

Important: never send us your wallet file, your password or your seed by email. If your case is viable, we first sign the contract and the NDA, and then explain how to share the data securely.
