Armory and MultiBit were among the most popular Bitcoin wallets in the early years (roughly 2011–2016). Many people still have coins locked in them today. Access usually depends on a wallet file protected by an encryption password, sometimes together with a paper backup or an exported key. The most common problems are forgetting the password and having an old, partial or damaged backup. In many cases, there is a solution.

At Satoshi Spain we are a Spain-based company, headquartered in Barcelona, specialised in recovering access to crypto wallets.

How Armory and MultiBit store your coins

Both are self-custody wallets: your keys live in a wallet file on your computer, usually protected by an encryption password. Armory also offered paper backups; MultiBit used its own wallet and key files. The cases we work on most are:

  • You have the wallet file but forgot the encryption password, or remember only part of it.
  • You have a paper backup or an exported key but can't import or open it.
  • You have an old installation and are not sure which version or format it used.

Nobody keeps a copy of your password. Recovering access means reconstructing it from what you remember, or rebuilding the wallet from the backup you still have.

When it can be recovered (and when it can't)

We want to be honest, because this field is full of false promises:

  • It can usually be recovered when you still have the wallet file or a valid backup and remember part of the password.
  • It is much harder if you have no wallet file, no backup and no memory of the password. In that case we'll tell you clearly at the assessment.

We never guarantee a 100% recovery. What we do guarantee is an honest assessment and that, if we don't recover access, you pay nothing.

How we do it

  1. Free assessment. You tell us about your case and what you still have and remember. We then tell you whether it's feasible and what would be needed.
  2. Contract and NDA. Before anything sensitive is shared, we sign a service agreement and a non-disclosure agreement under Spanish law. We only work with the legitimate owner of the wallet.
  3. Recovery. Starting from what you remember or still have, we generate and test candidates using on-demand GPU computing power and our own pattern research. We keep you updated throughout.
  4. Handover. Once we recover access, we help you regain control of your funds securely. The final step can even be done in person in Barcelona.

We only charge a success fee of 35% of the recovered amount, and only if we succeed. There is no upfront payment.

What we need from you

For the initial assessment we only need you to tell us:

  • Whether it's Armory or MultiBit, and roughly when you created the wallet.
  • Whether you still have the wallet file, a paper backup or an exported key.
  • Everything you remember about the password.

Important: never send us your wallet file, backup, key or password by email. If your case is viable, we first sign the contract and the NDA, and then explain how to share the data securely.

Every day counts. Let’s look at your wallet.

Frequently asked questions

I have an old MultiBit or Armory wallet from years ago — is it possible?

Often yes. If you still have the wallet file or a valid backup and remember part of the password, it's worth a free assessment. We identify the version and format for you.

Do you need my wallet file or password to assess the case?

No. For the initial assessment we only need you to tell us about the case. We don't ask for the wallet file, the backup or the password until we've signed the contract and the NDA.

How much does it cost?

The assessment is free and there is no upfront payment. We only charge a success fee of 35% of the recovered funds, and only if we recover access. If we don't, you pay nothing.

How long does it take?

It depends on what you remember or still have and the complexity of the case. It can range from a few days to several weeks. We give you a realistic estimate at the assessment.

Is it safe? What happens to my funds?

We work only with the legitimate owner of the wallet, under a contract and NDA. We never ask you to transfer your funds to us, and the final step can be done in person in Barcelona for your peace of mind.
